Council approves $149,995 HDR contract to study Eighth Street and Twelfth Avenue intersection

The work will include stakeholder outreach and public input as the city plans for anticipated traffic growth from nearby housing development.
“[The design will] evaluate the intersection for potential roundabout options…come up with cost estimates…and talk to stakeholder groups and public input,” the city engineer said during the meeting.
Council members framed the work as proactive planning rather than a decision to build immediately; staff said the study would help the city prepare for expected new housing and traffic in the coming years.
