District budget advisory committee reports early findings; final recommendations due September

District finance staff and the Budget Advisory Committee chair updated the board on work to date and next steps in the budget committee process.
Committee co-chairs and finance staff said three meetings have been held and that about 1,000 employees responded to a priorities survey, with most respondents certified staff; the committee is working to increase classified-staff and administrator participation. Upcoming meetings will analyze priority-survey data against budget and staffing information, examine retention data and compare other districts’ spending using audited financial reports.
The committee’s stated goal is to present final recommendations to the board by September 2025. Committee leaders thanked staff who supplied data and noted the group’s diversity and level of engagement.
