On the SRO agreement: Chief Damon of the York County Regional Police Department attended the meeting and was acknowledged by administration after the board approved the SRO addendum as part of the consent items. Board members discussed the cost and evaluation components for SRO staffing during the meeting’s discussion: Doctor Worthen reported comparative SRO costs in other districts, with most local agreements “right around the same range” as York Suburban and typical SRO arrangements in the $120,000–$135,000 range; security guards through private agencies were reported to be in the $65,000–$75,000 range. Doctor Sullivan asked that evaluation elements (Safe Schools data, PACE indicators such as bullying and perception-of-safety measures) be included in program monitoring; Doctor Lorfinck said the administration would include SRO evaluation pieces in an annual school-safety report and that a revised board policy (805.2) will incorporate that language when it returns to the board.
Administrators introduced several newly hired staff members during the meeting after the personnel items were approved: Mackenzie Corsa (East York Elementary, teacher), Britney Boyd (Indian Rock Elementary, teacher), Madison Hilty (East York Elementary, fourth grade) and Jessica Watkins (transfer to LIEP/ELL service coordinator at Indian Rock). The board recognized those new hires publicly after approval.
