District staff and project representatives updated the Bath County Board of Education April 28 on progress at Bath County High School, saying contractors are installing ductwork, commissioning HVAC systems has begun, and roof flashing repairs addressing leaks near the cafeteria are underway.
A project representative reported that crews are installing ductwork in the gymnasium and that the project should have permanent power “maybe next month.” The representative said heating and cooling systems should be operational and that commissioning — third‑party inspection of HVAC and electrical components — has started.
Contractors continue punch‑list work including ceiling, doors and hardware, locker room lighting, touch‑up painting and minor CMU work. The project team said they are developing a plan for parking‑lot repaving and milling, and that staff hope to present cost estimates for asphalt milling and overlay at a future board meeting.
The board also heard that roof flashing repairs above the lobby and the area above the kitchen that had been leaking are in progress or completed. A representative said the roofer has done flashing repairs to the roof drains above the lobby and was about to start flashing repairs above the kitchen; the district expects those repairs to stop the stains previously seen in nearby ceiling tiles.
Board members asked whether graduation scheduled for May 31 could be held inside the gym. The project representative said it was uncertain but staff would check and report back.
No formal action was required for the update. Project representatives said they would return with parking lot pricing and additional schedule details at a future meeting.
