Council confirms multiple advisory-board appointments and administers oaths

The Cerritos City Council on April 21 approved several appointments to the city's advisory boards and committees and administered the oath of office to appointees in attendance.
City Clerk Cindy Nava summarized the appointment process and noted the advisory boards include the Fine Arts and Historical Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, Planning Commission, Property Preservation Commission, Community Safety Committee and Let Freedom Ring Committee. Terms had expired March 31 and applications remain available on the city website.
Council Member Hong nominated Benjamin (Ben) Cho to the Let Freedom Ring Committee, noting Cho's long-time residency and community involvement; the council approved the appointment by a 5–0 vote and the city clerk administered the oath of office. Mayor Pro Tem Linda Johnson announced a slate of reappointments across commissions (Ileana Prado, JC Choksi, CJ Villaluna, Leila Nam, Gordon Hamm and Dan Nino among others); those nominations were approved by a 5–0 vote and appointees present were sworn in.
Mayor Yokoyama made additional mayoral appointments to external boards and working groups, including the Bellflower Unified School District Citizens Task Force, nominating Gerard Greenidge; council approved that appointment 5–0. Councilors thanked appointees for their service and took group photos following the oath ceremonies.
The appointments were taken by majority vote recorded as 5–0 in each instance. Staff will coordinate oath administration for appointees not present and post updated appointment information on the city's website.
