After the vote, Garrett Gentry, president of Gentry Civil Corp., addressed the council and said his company had filed a bid protest when the project was advertised. Gentry told council he believed bid instructions were unclear and that four of six bidders were disqualified for the same reason. He said a correct rebid could save the city about $265,000 and asked the council to re‑advertise the project or explain on the public record why the award should stand. The mayor and staff noted a seven‑day protest period is available to file formal protests.
No change to the award was made during the meeting; the project will proceed subject to the standard protest period.
