The Amherst Finance Committee voted 6-0 to send resolution A25-17 to the full council to authorize the mayor to participate in the state’s bulk salt purchasing consortium for 2025 and 2026.
Cliff Murphy told the committee the city used a large quantity of road salt last winter and emptied both municipal storage barns. "This is something we do every year," Murphy said. "The state allows us to participate in this bulk buying, and it gets a better price for us." He said the purchase will refill the barns and build a small surplus.
The committee recorded a motion by Mister Naver to send A25-17 to the council floor with emergency designation; Mister Danick seconded. With no further discussion the motion passed 6 to 0.
The resolution will proceed to the full council for consideration and formal adoption.
