The Kyle City Charter Review Commission voted to approve proposed changes to Article 10 affecting the planning commission’s term limits and to add two new subsections to 10.05.
Staff presented the amendment to 10.04 to clarify that planning commissioners serve two consecutive two-year terms, and that a person appointed to fill an unexpired term may later serve two consecutive two-year terms. The presenter summarized the change as addressing a prior mismatch between two-year terms and a five-year maximum service limit. A motion to approve the change was made and the motion passed (voice vote recorded as “Aye”).
The commission also approved additions to 10.05: a new subsection j permitting the planning commission to provide comments to the city manager on any proposed development agreements, and subsection k stating the planning commission may take no action that is in violation of applicable law. The presenter said both subsections were placed at the bottom of the section as requested; a motion to accept the additions carried by voice vote.
The text approved at this meeting will be incorporated into the redline the commission will consider at future meetings. Staff indicated no further modifications to Article 10 were presented at this session.
