The Lake Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees on Oct. 20 approved the consent agenda and voted to adopt recommended library materials from the district's School Library Advisory Council (SLAC).
Nut graf: Both motions passed unanimously among trustees present; Board President Stacy noted Mr. Appleby and Mr. Mark Tucker were absent for the votes.
Consent agenda: A trustee moved to approve the consent agenda and a second was recorded on the floor. The board chair called for a voice vote; the motion "passes unanimous without Mister Appleby and Mister Mark Tucker," according to the meeting record.
Library materials (SLAC): Deputy Superintendent Kelly O'Sullivan presented the SLAC recommendation, saying the council met Sept. 18 and the district posted the proposed list at least 30 days before recommendation. O'Sullivan said the committee reviewed about 500 requested titles and that district library staff provided detailed descriptions for members to consider. Mr. Baird moved to approve the SLAC-recommended list; Mr. Smith seconded the motion. The board voted in favor; the clerk recorded the motion as passing unanimously, with Mr. Appleby and Mr. Mark Tucker absent.
Ending: Trustees did not discuss any amendments to the SLAC list at the meeting. Both votes were recorded as passed without the two absent trustees; the SLAC list and consent items will proceed as approved.
