Applicant alleges favoritism in Lake Dallas Elementary hiring during public comment

During the public-comment portion of the Oct. 20 Lake Dallas Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting, Stephanie Hurley said a recent hiring decision for a manager at Lake Dallas Elementary was not made on merit and raised concerns about apparent favoritism.
Hurley told the board she is "the most qualified candidate" for the role, cited training and recommendations from current and former child-nutrition leaders, and said she has longstanding experience in the district'including unloading produce trucks and early-day cafeteria work. "To overlook my dedication, qualification, and experience based on assumptions about favoritism is not fair to me and more importantly is not fair to the students who deserve the best leadership in the cafeteria," Hurley said.
