Commissioners said the $50 rate had been previously approved for some uses if the arena was available; others said recurring or fundraising events outside a regular schedule require court approval to ensure fee consistency across organizations.
Discussion: commissioners and staff debated whether recurring users should be placed on a yearly contract so organizers would not need to appear at court for each booking and to ensure fairness to other groups that pay published fees. Staff noted the county maintains an annual schedule of fees for the arena and other facilities and said any deviation (a lower rate or waiver) requires court approval. Commissioners suggested bringing the request through the events coordinator's report in future to reduce agenda backlog.
