During the public-comment portion of the meeting, residents raised a property-use concern about a parcel near 4623 South 6300 West where an owner reportedly sought to place a pole barn or hay shed.
Jay Bowman spoke on behalf of JR James, the property owner, and asked whether the matter would be addressed at the council meeting. He said the owner has used the property for about 18 years and sought clarity on whether the city would permit him to construct a modest pole barn for agricultural storage. Bowman described prior discussions in work session and asked the council to revisit a lease approach that would allow temporary use but require removal of structures if needed.
Council members said they had discussed the issue in a prior work session and suggested staff and council would follow up to explore options such as a time-limited lease or conditional permission that would allow the structure to be removed if necessary. No formal motion was made, and the council did not take action during the meeting; council members directed staff to reach out to the property owner and report back.
Another public commenter, who identified himself as Dylan, asked about a small home-occupation matter and said he intended to return for a future council discussion; that item was entered into the record as public comment and will be considered separately if placed on a future agenda.
No formal council action was taken on the property-use items during the meeting; staff were asked to follow up with the resident and report back to the council.
