District finishes roof repairs; playground and renovation work continues; food service posts surplus

Construction work at Community School continued, Dr. Thornton said, with bathroom tile and fixtures being installed, electrical work underway and window replacements scheduled. He added that the gym ceiling grid had been replaced and described progress on playground work at Cumberland Hill, where concrete pours are complete and final surfacing remains.
Fiscal subcommittee chair McKenzie Smith reported that the district’s food service vendor, Chartwell, had a year‑to‑date profit of $144,175 through March, above the contract guarantee of $123,000. Smith said lunch participation is up by about 50,181 meals year‑to‑date compared with last year and breakfast participation is up by roughly 3,800 meals.
The committee did not take action on construction items at the meeting; the updates were informational.
