Cumberland High students raise $7,000 for classmate; blood drive planned May 12

Audrey Lambert, vice president of Cumberland High School student government, told the school committee on April 24 that students raised $7,000 for classmate Tyler Perea through the group’s annual Pennies for Patients fundraiser, rebranded this year as “Turn It Up for Tyler.”
"This year Pennies for Patients took on the new name, Turn It Up for Tyler," Lambert said, describing raffles, local business collaborations and other events that produced the donation. Freshman class president Adi said the group plans a second blood drive in partnership with the Rhode Island Blood Center on May 12 in the high school auditorium and hopes to invite faculty and staff from other district buildings.
Student government also said it will hold spring dances for underclassmen and junior prom, and is planning teacher‑appreciation activities during the upcoming week, including decorated copy rooms, student notes and small celebrations.
The committee thanked the students for the report; no committee action was required.
