Planning commission approves 51-unit boat and RV condominium at 1600 Corona Drive

The Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission on Dec. 19 approved a preliminary subdivision plat to convert an existing boat and RV storage site at 1600 Corona Drive into 51 condominium units.
City staff recommended approval, saying the proposal met the city's subdivision rules. "Staff finds the proposed preliminary plat meets all the requirements set forth in Title 13 subdivisions," city staff stated during the hearing.
The applicant, Lee Johnson of APL Surveying, told the commission the application would allow the property owner to sell individual storage units rather than rent them. "This is just changing this unit over from a rental to capable of selling the units," Johnson said.
Commissioner Stu Still moved to approve the preliminary plat; the motion was seconded and the commission voted 5-0 to approve.
No public testimony was offered at the hearing on the item and staff indicated no outstanding code issues at the preliminary-plat stage.
The commission recorded the approval as Land Use Action ID 19-18-65.
