Muscatine County staff opened four bids Oct. 6 for project LMO77370, a twin 12-by-9-by-88-foot reinforced concrete box (RCB) culvert on 180th Street near the north quarter corner of Section 17, Township 77 North, Range 1 East.
County staff read AS-READ totals and said they would verify the bid math before awarding. The four bidders and the AS-READ totals announced were: Garrett Works OK LLC of Long Grove, Iowa, $625,166.49; Iowa Bridge and Culvert LLC of Washington, Iowa, $448,411.80; Bridal B Construction of Wilton, Iowa, $586,670.30; and Boomerang Corp of Anamosa, Iowa, $662,207.44. County staff said the AS-READ low bid is Iowa Bridge and Culvert at $448,411.80 and that award is likely at the next board meeting after staff completes tabulation.
County engineer (present) noted the location is near a right-angle on 180th Street by the Stone Church and reminded bidders that bid items govern the contract. Staff thanked bidders and said formal bid tabs would be sent to contractors later the same day or the following day.
