Agoura Hills planning commissioners told staff on Thursday they are generally favorable to moving the commission—s regular start time from 6:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and asked staff to include the commission—s feedback in a City Council report.
Community Development Director Denise Thomas presented the discussion item and said aligning the commission start time with City Council meetings and beginning earlier on heavier agendas could improve public participation and reduce late meetings. Commissioners said a 6 p.m. start was acceptable; one commissioner suggested the commission retain flexibility to reorder heavy items to accommodate consultants and speaker schedules.
Thomas said she will prepare a staff report asking the City Council to amend the Municipal Code so the Planning Commission statutory start time reads 6:00 p.m. and that, if council approves, the commission would use the new time beginning in August after the July hiatus.
