Commission approves buried-line permit for Water District 5 service line

The Osage County Commission approved a buried-line permit for a new water service requested by or for Water District 5, county staff said during the April 29 meeting.
Staff described the work as a short run just south of a referenced property and said the installation will include trenching under the county road and connecting the service to a driveway approach for building access. Commissioners discussed whether encasement of the water line is recommended where it crosses under the roadway and agreed that casing through the ditch and past the shoulder is a prudent safety measure to prevent vehicle damage.
A motion to approve the buried-line permit for the Water District 5 service line was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The county’s Road & Bridge staff will oversee the permit conditions and inspect the crossing to ensure the encasement and marking meet county standards before restoring surface materials.
