The Danvers Accessibility Commission heard an update that a planning meeting for a proposed downtown crosswalk mural has been scheduled and agreed to seek answers to zoning and design questions from town staff and consultants.
A meeting with town staff and the consultant firm BHB is set for Tuesday, April 29 at 1:30 p.m. and will be conducted virtually on Microsoft Teams. The commission was told attendees will include town staff and several named participants from the planning team (listed in the meeting notice as Josh Morris, Stephen King, Aaron Henry, Rob Deaver, Brian Zekeli, Henry Clark and Josh Triarchis).
Commissioners reviewed town rules on wall murals and noted that murals are permitted in the downtown zoning district, subject to size and placement requirements. One member said they had asked zoning staff about mural placement and posting rules and planned to send the commission's list of questions ahead of the planning meeting so the consultant and staff could address them.
The commission member coordinating the project said she would distribute the Teams link and invited any commissioner to join the virtual meeting as observers. “If anyone else wants to also attend, I would assume I'm free to give that out,” she said.
Members discussed whether to send specific questions in advance or listen for answers at the first meeting and follow up afterward. The member leading the outreach said she would send questions before the meeting and share any minutes or notes after the session.
Ending: The commission will monitor the planning meeting, may attend as observers, and expects follow-up details on design, placement, and timeline once the consultant and staff provide project information.
