At the meeting the California Veterinary Medical Board approved a legislative proposal to amend Business and Professions Code section 4887 concerning petitions for reinstatement and modification of penalties. The proposed language addresses two issues the board identified during its sunset review: (1) clarifying tolling of time periods that apply to petitions for reinstatement for licensees who surrendered licenses, and (2) requiring that petitions for reinstatement or modification of penalties be accompanied by a full set of fingerprints to enable criminal history record checks.
Staff presented draft statutory language for the board’s review. The board moved and seconded a motion to submit the legislative proposal to the California State Legislature; the motion passed on roll call. Staff will forward the text to Department of Consumer Affairs and legislative counsel for review and pursue the proposal as part of the board’s ongoing legislative agenda.
