Marshall County commissioners voted Oct. 20 to approve the 2026 employee benefits insurance rates as presented, keeping employees’ share of premiums unchanged. Human Resources representative Jennifer told the board the county’s medical plan rates increased about 20 percent; the county will absorb that increase and the employee portion will not rise for 2026.
Commissioners noted the county had also authorized a 2% wage increase for next year and acknowledged the county is covering a significant rise in health-care costs on top of that pay increase. Human Resources said no changes were being made to the insurance carriers for medical, dental or vision plans for 2026. The motion to approve the rates and continue the current employee contribution levels passed unanimously.
Separately, the board approved a 30-day sick-bank request that met program requirements.
