The Village of Northbrook Board of Trustees unanimously renewed the special permit for Children's Learning Path Montessori at 1133 Finkston Road and approved an ordinance so the school will not be required to return for a 10-year renewal.
Director of Development Amy McKeown told the board the school has operated at the Gloria Dei Evangelical Lutheran Church location since 2004, was approved previously and has had no recorded complaints. Staff recommended approval of renewal and the waiver of the decennial renewal requirement.
Board action: The board opened a public hearing, received no public comment, and then approved both the permit renewal and the ordinance removing the future 10-year renewal requirement. A roll-call vote recorded unanimous support.
Why it matters: The waiver aligns the school's permit with the village's standard practice for long-standing, well-behaved uses; staff noted that waiving the scheduled renewal does not prevent the village from responding to future complaints or code issues at the property.
