Zoning Administrator McKay approved a minor landmark alteration permit to allow exterior changes at properties on College Avenue: replacement of three windows on the single‑family dwelling at 343 College Avenue and construction of a carport addition at 335/337 College Avenue, both within the Ridgeway Historic Preservation District.
Staff said the district — designated in February 2007 — is predominantly single‑story bungalow‑style housing and that the proposed work would not be readily visible from the street or adversely affect the streetscape. The two metal, single‑hung windows at 343 College Avenue would be replaced with wood, single‑hung windows with white trim intended to complement the building and surrounding historic windows. The new carport would be a low‑slope, wood structure designed to resemble other parking structures in the area and to match surrounding materials and colors. Staff found the project categorically exempt under CEQA Guidelines §15301 (minor exterior modifications) and §15303 (small structures) and reported no unresolved issues or public comments.
An applicant representative (Kyla) appeared by Zoom but had no further comment. McKay noted he appreciated the way the architect modeled the carport on surrounding buildings and said bringing tree removal back into compliance with the zoning code was important. McKay approved the permit and reminded listeners the decision is final unless appealed to the city clerk’s office within 10 calendar days (appeal deadline 2025-04-28).
