An unnamed commenter who identified herself as a teacher described her path into education and urged transparency with staff and students, saying the district must provide resources and support so students become lifelong learners.
"I started subbing immediately, did alt certification, became a teacher, absolutely loved it, and realized that that was my passion," the commenter said. She added, "It's important to be transparent, you know, with your staff and with your students. So they need to know why. Why we do what we do."
The speaker described frequent moves during her early adult life tied to her husband's military service and said that experience contributed to her decision to enter education. She also said she feels an emotional connection to students as they progress through grades and noted, "right now I see that I have 1,079 babies." The commenter said the district's role is to hold students accountable while supporting them so they become lifelong learners.
She emphasized both accountability and support: "Our job is to, when they make a mistake, hold them accountable, but the next day love them," and said students notice whether educators are committed. The speaker concluded by saying staff should provide students "with the resources, the support, and just the confidence that they need to go out to the community and make a difference."
