The Mableton City Council on April 23 approved an amendment to the city’s pay-and-class plan, updating position titles and adding classifications for municipal-court administrative roles, and agreed to defer final adoption of a separate municipal-court ordinance to the next meeting to allow staff to circulate tracked changes from a subject‑matter reviewer.
City Manager Michael Hughes told council the pay-and-class amendments remove the city manager and appointed judge from the pay-class list (those salaries are set by council or contract) and adjust titles in finance (accounting clerk → finance analyst; accounting/finance manager → deputy finance director) without changing pay ranges for existing staff. The plan also adds municipal-court positions (municipal court administrator, clerk of court and court clerk) so the city can staff a municipal court when the ordinance and operations are finalized.
Madam Attorney recommended deferring the municipal-court ordinance second reading so staff could attach a marked-up set of changes provided by a court subject-matter expert; council agreed and asked that staff circulate track-changes ahead of the next reading. The council approved the paying-class resolution on voice vote with no opposition; the municipal-court ordinance was not adopted and will return after staff provides the requested redline.
