Police ramp up enforcement of truck parking on NW 15th; staff to pursue short- and long-term solutions

Pompano Beach law enforcement and city staff told the commission on April 22 they have stepped up enforcement against commercial trucks staging and sleeping along Northwest 15th Street and other corridors, and that they will pursue short- and long-term measures to reduce the problem.
Deputy Kersey, the city's commercial vehicle enforcement officer, said the department has issued dozens of citations over two weeks and towed at least one truck for a criminal violation. "We're 12 days into this. I personally have over 40 traffic stops," he said, adding that he had written 552 commercial-truck citations during the prior year alone.
