Commission actions: revocable license at Alsdorf Park, dual street naming, asphalt contract extension and other votes

The Pompano Beach City Commission took a series of formal actions on April 22, 2025, approving several resolutions, a lease, engineering work authorizations and appointments and taking procedural actions on land-use items. Highlights:

- Alsdorf Park revocable license with Broward County (Resolution): approved unanimously to allow Broward County temporary staging at Alsdorf Park for county construction projects.

- Dual naming: Northwest 20 Seventh Avenue approved to also carry the honorary name "Reverend Evander Derrico Sr. Avenue." The commission approved the measure after public testimony from family members and local leaders.

- Asphalt paving contract amendment: the commission approved a second amendment extending Weekly Asphalt Paving Inc.'s contract for asphalt concrete pavement surfacing through April 30, 2026, to continue implementing the city's five-year paving plan.

- Intersection improvements: the commission authorized a $291,914 work authorization to design and permit signalization improvements and a northbound right-turn lane at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northwest Eighteenth Drive.

- Beach kiosk lease: after public comment and some discussion about outreach and design, the commission approved a lease agreement for the city's beach concession kiosk at 20 N. Pompano Beach Boulevard.

- Zoning and land-use procedural actions: the commission postponed second-reading action on a change to rear-yard corner triangle rules (item 14) to the May 13 meeting, and directed staff to split and re-advertise a proposed coastal dune management…
