Commissioners approve jail dishwasher, mower and vehicle purchases and renew copier lease

FANNIN COUNTY, Ga. — The Fannin County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 23 approved several equipment purchases and a copier lease renewal, including a new commercial dishwasher for the jail, a mower for road maintenance, and authorization to purchase a vehicle for a county office.
A county lieutenant told commissioners the jail’s dishwasher is inoperable and serves roughly 60–70 inmates; the board approved purchasing a replacement commercial dishwasher from KaTom Restaurant Supply for $13,790.30 with a five-year manufacturer/tech warranty. The supplier’s quoted lead time was about four to six weeks, and county maintenance staff will install the unit. A motion to approve the purchase passed by voice vote.
The board also approved the purchase of a 160-inch offset flail mower from Nelson Tractor Company at a government price of $7,250 to be paid from county equipment funds (referred to in the meeting as SPLost/Splosh funds). Commissioner Zach (identified in the meeting as “Zach”) described the unit as better suited for ditch and bank mowing and noted a one-year warranty; the motion passed by voice vote.
Commissioners authorized up to $34,000 to purchase a used vehicle to serve the commissioners’ office; the requester said the county will seek a vehicle with remaining manufacturer warranty when possible and prefer used or “floor” trade vehicles. The motion to allow the purchase not to exceed $34,000 was approved by voice vote.
Finance Director Sherry Walker presented a renewal proposal from DPI for a five-year copier lease in the commissioners’ office. The monthly lease payment is $1,727.10 for 60 months; an adjusted per-copy usage rate was reported as $0.034823 (including lease payments). The board voted to renew the lease.
All items were approved by voice vote; meeting audio records do not include roll-call tallies. Commissioners did not specify delivery dates for the mower or vehicle beyond supplier lead-time comments. Installation of the dishwasher will be handled by county maintenance staff.
