Bonner County approves Sandpoint obstruction‑removal contract, Priest River hangar lease and a temporary construction easement

Commissioners voted to enter into the construction contract with Selen Construction for the Sandpoint obstruction removal project; staff said the contract and grant details were previously accepted and that legal and risk have reviewed the contract. The board also approved a standard three‑year lease for Hangar Shelter Number 5 at Priest River Airport; lease payments increase annually per the draft terms provided to the board and the county attorney had reviewed the lease.
On the obstruction project the board also approved a temporary construction easement with a neighboring landowner to stage equipment on a portion of the grantor's property to avoid constructing roadwork through a wetland and to reduce project costs associated with roadway improvements. Airport staff said the easement provides a cost‑saving access route and does not include direct payment to the grantor; the easement will end on Dec. 1, 2025, or 30 days after project completion. Commissioners recorded roll call votes approving the contract, the lease and the easement.
Ending: The airport items were approved and staff will proceed to execute the contract, finalize the hangar lease, and record the temporary easement; the obstruction removal project will proceed using the approved access route to reduce roadway work through wetland areas.
