Superintendent Dr. Perry told the South Colonie Central School District Board of Education on Oct. 21 that the district operational plan will be published on the district website by the end of the week and highlighted recent outreach and recruitment efforts.
“It's a plan that encompasses our mission and vision for the district…that plan will be available on our website by the end of this week,” Dr. Perry said, describing the operational plan as an overview of administrative departments’ roles, strategic planning and management practices.
Why this matters: the operational plan is intended to give staff, board members and the public a single reference for district strategy and administrative responsibilities.
Bus rodeo, recruitment and coverage
Dr. Perry thanked transportation director Brian Sim and the transportation department for staging a bus rodeo — an event the superintendent described as both a recruitment fair and a public demonstration of transportation work. He encouraged interested community members to contact the transportation department or human resources about bus‑driving jobs and noted media coverage of the event.
“This was a recruitment fair as well as a highlight of what our transportation department does each and every day,” Dr. Perry said. Board members who attended described the event as a useful hands‑on experience; the district said Channel 10 produced coverage that gave the event additional exposure.
High‑school open house and upcoming events
Dr. Perry thanked high‑school staff, students and volunteers for a recent open house showcasing completed construction work at the high school. He singled out ICARE students and other volunteers who gave tours. He also noted upcoming district events, including a faculty event to support music scholarships on Nov. 7 and the academic hall of fame and National Honor Society ceremony on Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the high school.
Ending: The superintendent closed by encouraging community participation in upcoming events and thanking staff for recent outreach and volunteer efforts.
