The shelter has submitted a proposal to the county TIF board for additional funding to finish phase one and said the board is cautiously considering the request; if approved, the shelter could complete reception areas, restrooms, quarantine rooms and other features and aim to move animals by the end of the year.
The representative also listed upcoming fundraisers: an open house (soup and family activities) on Oct. 4, a Fido-fetch tennis-ball raffle and canine demonstrations, and a golf scramble on Oct. 12 hosted by a local organizer to benefit the shelter. Staff said funds from these events support the shelter's medical fund and operations.
Commissioners received the update; no formal action was required at the meeting.
