Inspector Chris Rossi told the board the town plans to purchase Motorola Solutions Evidence Library 5 for $41,230.03, including five years of maintenance and support through a Sourcewell contract.
The move follows technical problems and a 2023 discontinuation of Motorola’s Evidence Library 4. “If you don't upgrade to the new software ... you could lose critical videos and evidence that are on the server, and it could crash and be unrecoverable,” Inspector Chris Rossi said. Rossi said the purchase will mitigate that risk and bridge the department to a planned transition to Axon in new vehicles.
JP Spas described the resolution as an appropriation from committed fund balance for the software upgrade. The board voted on the resolution after the staff presentation; the roll call recorded Alderman Marshall, Alderman Robbins, Alderman Hall and Mayor Frasier voting yes.
The procurement was described on a staff motion as an award under Sourcewell cooperative pricing (Sourcewell mobile video 101233; MOT contract number 36874). Inspector Rossi said the $41,230.03 purchase includes extended maintenance and warranties for five years.
