Nueces County Commissioners on Wednesday adopted a countywide policy for future tax increment reinvestment zones (TIRZ, commonly called TIRSes in local practice) and voted to reverse earlier cuts to the county’s participation in two existing zones.
The court voted unanimously to adopt a draft policy setting guidelines for how the county will evaluate and participate in new and renewing TIRSes, including participation limits for new zones, reporting requirements and a mechanism to raise concerns to the court.
