The Richland County CUSD 1 Board approved the district's annual model partnership agreement with Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IECC), maintaining the district's dual-credit programs for high school students.
The agreement, described by district staff as an annual model partnership covering dual-credit coursework, was presented as routine and updated each year to reflect terminology and program adjustments. The motion to approve was moved by Board member Lockley and seconded; the board approved the agreement by roll call.
During discussion Board members asked whether the district was losing any dual-credit offerings. Staff said the district had added on-campus dual-credit math this year but lost a health-occupations dual-credit section because IECC (OCC) did not have an available instructor. Board members suggested district staff and the community encourage local hospitals to partner with IECC to identify potential instructors, but staff noted such an arrangement would require an agreement between IECC and any hospital partner.
The model partnership agreement will remain in effect for the coming year and staff said they will pursue options to restore any high-demand courses if IECC secures qualified instructors.
