Boyertown district presents student-achievement and support data showing growth despite mixed proficiency

Director of Curriculum and Instruction Stephanie Petrie presented a wide-ranging data report to the Boyertown Area School District Education and Student Services Committee, outlining academic performance, graduation pathways and nonacademic supports and saying the district is showing growth even where proficiency remains mixed.

"My goal tonight is really to highlight how our data is reflecting our mission and our mission and vision and our work towards helping all of our students become that portrait of a graduate," Petrie said as she opened the presentation.

The presentation summarized several assessment systems and local measures. Petrie said Advanced Placement participation at Boyertown High School (BASH) has increased and that pass rates (scores of 3 or 4) are consistently higher than the national average. She also reviewed Pennsylvania-specific measures — including the Pennsylvania Value-Added Assessment System (PVAS), the PA Future Ready Index and PSSA results — noting that the most recent PVAS growth report was released to the district last week and shows many students exceeding growth expectations.
