Marathon County approves reimbursement resolution to support Clean Water Fund principal forgiveness application

MARATHON COUNTY — The committee unanimously approved a reimbursement resolution that staff said is necessary to submit an application for principal forgiveness through the state's Clean Water Funding Program.
Administrator Leonard and Dave (solid waste staff) told members the resolution is a routine municipal step that allows the county to reimburse itself from bond proceeds for eligible project costs incurred before borrowing and — crucially — is a prerequisite for applying for principal forgiveness. "If we don't have this resolution then we have no chance of the principal forgiveness funding which is upwards of $3,500,000," Dave said.
The committee moved the resolution forward to the full County Board for consideration. Supervisor Hart moved approval and Supervisor Poole seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
What happens next: Staff will include the reimbursement resolution in the County Board packet and submit the Clean Water Fund application seeking principal forgiveness and other funding as appropriate.
