Entrepreneur Dee Jones asks county support for Stockton Bridge Community Hub; says foundations pledging $4 million

She said “we actually have a lot of foundations trying to pour at least $4,000,000 into our community hub already” and that the group is working with Independent Bank; Jones said an Independent Bank representative on the hub’s board told her the bank had helped another community organization secure $5,000,000 in funding.
Jones described the hub as a multi‑service local center meant to serve constituents across Kent County, and she asked commissioners to consider helping by advocating for state funding when the opportunity arises. She said hub committees will be open to public input and that she will invite Commissioner Carol Hennessy to participate when she is available. Jones framed the hub as a means to support local entrepreneurs and residents experiencing poverty.
No board action followed the public comment; the comment was recorded during the committee’s public‑comment period.
