The Kent County Operation and Policy Committee on Sept. 16 voted to support acquiring two foreclosed parcels for the Kent Trails corridor and to forward the matter to the full board for final approval.
Al introduced the item from the Parks and Recreation Department and commissioners moved and seconded the motion in committee. Commissioner Pacla sought confirmation that the action covered two parcels; staff confirmed the request pertained to two parcels and that the page in the packet reflected back taxes of “29.56” as shown in the materials. The committee carried the motion by voice vote.
Staff said the acquisition proceeds under the county’s process for tax‑foreclosed properties and that the parcels would be used to advance the Kent Trails corridor. Final purchase and title clearance will proceed through the treasurer’s process and the action will be considered by the full board at its next meeting.
