OSKALOOSA, Iowa — Two Great Iowa AmeriCorps members presented their 2024–25 host-site activities to the Oskaloosa City Council on July 21, describing community outreach, habitat work and education programs.
Presenters and activities: Ella Paulson and Lily Muin (identified as AmeriCorps members) summarized work at 92 host sites across Iowa and local activities that included native-plant propagation and planting, invasive species removal, rain-barrel workshops, a sand-dune Earth Expo presentation, a dog-focused Bark Ranger program and restoration of picnic tables. Paulson described a months-long native-plant project in partnership with the Soil Conservation District and other local partners; council confirmed the plantings are native and intended to be perennial.
