Jenny Dean Elementary project on time and on budget, district staff report

Mr. Caffeller provided the board with the July construction update for the new Jenny Dean Elementary School, saying the project "remains on time and on budget" and site work has advanced significantly.
In the nut graf he told board members the contractor and project manager have completed the water-line loop around the existing school, installed underground utilities at the rear of the site, finished the summer side parking lot work, and relocated the construction fence to prepare for students' arrival. "We have an average of 80 to 90 workers there on a daily basis," he said.
Inside the building, masonry crews have topped out the administrative wing and the gymnasium, and crews have begun high work on the north wing. Concrete slab-on-grade pours are complete except for the mechanical room, which Mr. Caffeller said will be finished once the last utility connections are made. He also reported that steel materials are on-site and that steel subcontractors "have secured the FAA permits for the crane operation," with a crane currently placing steel trusses.
The project manager named in the update was Skanska; Mr. Caffeller said Skanska has continued to coordinate with the school and city. He said weather has been cooperative and the team will provide an August update at the next board meeting.
Board members did not ask follow-up questions during the presentation. Mr. Caffeller closed by saying he would provide the next progress report in September.
No formal board action was taken on the construction update at this meeting.
