Jason Anderson, director of public works and city engineer, said the contract was originally awarded on March 11 with a base amount of $464,044.96 and that the contractor, Central Specialties of Alexandria, completed the work including alternate streets authorized by the council. Anderson told the council the final contract amount exceeds the base by roughly $50,000 and staff recommended approval of the reconciling change order and final payment.
Councilmember Craig moved approval; John seconded. The council voted to approve the final pay request and reconciling change order.
Anderson said the contractor handled some weather-related scheduling challenges but completed the work and staff expressed appreciation for the work done.
