Placerville appoints Natalie Tornen Casa as interim finance director, announces internal succession

The Placerville City Council announced in open session on Aug. 26 that it appointed Natalie Tornen Casa as the city—s interim director of finance following a closed-session decision.

Mayor John Clerici reported the outcome of the council—s closed session and introduced Tornen Casa to the audience. Tornen Casa, who has worked for the city for three years, told the council she was honored by the appointment and thanked her colleagues. “I am honored to accept this appointment as interim finance director, and I want to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the trust and confidence you have placed on me,” she said. Tornen Casa also acknowledged mentors and staff who supported her, including the outgoing director and the city treasurer.

The council described the appointment as an internal succession step: staff said the current director of finance will be "kicked upstairs" in a couple of months and that Tornen Casa will take over the director—s duties on an interim basis while the city manages that transition. No vote details were offered in open session beyond the closed-session announcement; the council said the appointment resulted from a closed-session action and invited Tornen Casa to speak briefly during the meeting.

Tornen Casa said she plans to bring passion and dedication to the role and looks forward to serving the community she has called home for nine years.
