The East Whittier City School District Board of Education unanimously ratified an amendment to the superintendent's employment agreement and approved a slate of routine resolutions and personnel items at its meeting.
Superintendent contract amendment
The board reported out from closed session and unanimously agreed to ratify an amendment extending the superintendent's contract through June 30, 2029. Under the amendment, the superintendent's salary will continue to follow the district superintendent salary schedule and the annual base salary will be calculated by dividing the base pay by 224 required workdays. The amendment allows the superintendent to elect to work up to 10 additional days per year, paid at his current daily rate. The contract also includes a car allowance of $1,000 per month; the superintendent is responsible for vehicle operation, maintenance and insurance costs. The board said all other contract provisions remain in effect.

- New salary schedule for speech-language pathologists (SLPs), effective July 1, 2025: adopted unanimously. District staff said the schedule was updated to reflect current master's-level program outcomes and to make recruitment more competitive; SLPs will receive the same stipend as special education teachers with an increased amount negotiated.
