Auditor gives Hollidaysburg a clean opinion; borough fund balances mixed after capital spending in 2024

Dan Bradley of the borough’s audit firm told council the independent audit for the year ended Dec. 31, 2024 resulted in an unmodified (clean) opinion, meaning no material misstatements were identified.
Bradley reported government-wide net position for governmental activities of about $14 million and business‑type activities (water and sewer) of about $33 million as of Dec. 31, 2024. The total governmental fund balance was reported at roughly $6,411,000, of which about $1,082,000 was restricted and approximately $5,000,293 was unassigned and available for 2025 expenses. He said the general fund’s fund balance increased by about $493,000 during 2024, while total governmental fund balance decreased by about $409,000 due to capital projects.
The auditor also reported no internal‑control or compliance findings in the course of the audit and invited questions from council.
