Hollidaysburg council accepts mayor's resignation, appoints councilman Chad Repko to finish term

Mayor Joe Dodson told Hollidaysburg Borough Council he will resign effective Sept. 1, and council members voted to appoint Councilman Chad Repko to serve as mayor for the remainder of Dodson’s term through December 2025.
The council voted on a motion to appoint Repko after discussion about ensuring continuity ahead of the November general election. “I respectfully ask for your confidence, your support, and the opportunity to continue serving this great borough in a new capacity,” Repko said after the council moved and seconded his appointment.
Council members debated whether to appoint a sitting council member or another person; speakers at the meeting urged the council to respect the result of the recent election in which Repko was the successful candidate. Former council president Randy Manning spoke during public comment in support of Repko’s appointment.
The motion to appoint Repko passed with the standard voice vote. The council recorded the appointment as starting Sept. 1.
Council President opened the meeting noting the resignation and said the council is responsible for appointing someone to fill the mayoral vacancy until the end of 2025. The appointment was discussed in the open session and carried by voice vote.
Repko, a current council member, said his priorities would be continuity with borough staff and finishing work underway, including the comprehensive plan and budget-season items.
