The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility Board on Aug. 5 approved Change Order No. 1 for Sam Trucking and Excavating Inc., increasing the contract price by $31,391 for the Dresden Street East at First Avenue water‑main replacement and extending the contract time by 26 calendar days.
Jennifer, a staff member who presented the item, said the change order reflects the final adjustment of existing pay items to actual quantities used and creates five new pay items. "The primary source of the increase was due to the discovery of railroad ties within the water main trench, and the removal and disposal along with the additional pavement restoration that was required," Jennifer said. She told the board the majority of the time extension was weather-related and recommended approval of Change Order No. 1 as the first and final change order.
A motion to approve Change Order No. 1 passed by voice vote; the chair recorded the motion as carried. The transcript does not include a roll-call tally or the names of the motion mover and seconder.
The approval authorizes payment of the increased contract amount and records a 26‑calendar‑day extension to the contractor’s completion schedule. The board and staff characterized this as the first and final change order for the contract.
