Syfy Networks updates Escondido on citywide fiber build; residents told service could begin January 2026

Jordan Harris, an area manager for Syfy Networks, told the council the company signed a development agreement with the city in December 2022 and began construction in September 2024. “My name is Jordan Harris. I’m an area manager for Syfy Networks,” Harris said during the presentation. He said the network is “100% fiber optic” and will be built to every street and serve “over 55,000 individual properties.” Harris said the company expects the first areas of the network to go live “as early as January 2026.”
The presentation emphasized that the build is privately funded and at no cost to the city. Syfy described itself as a neutral, open‑access network operator that builds and manages fiber and then allows internet service providers to deliver retail service.
