Midwest City ' The Midwest City Council on Aug. 26 approved a one-year collective bargaining agreement between the city and International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2066 for the period July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
City staff presented the negotiated agreement, which staff said mirrors pay increases provided to other city employees and includes a 2.05% wage increase, cleanup of contract language and previously agreed-to provisions that had not been fully incorporated in earlier drafts.
A staff member acknowledged a typographical error in an earlier packet that had listed a larger percentage; the council clarified the approved wage adjustment is 2.05% and not 2.5% or 2.5-point-something. Council members asked about the timing of future negotiations; staff said bargaining units must notify the city by Feb. 10 of each year of intent to negotiate and that the plan is to begin negotiations promptly when notices are received.
Vote: The council moved, seconded and approved the collective bargaining agreement by voice vote. The agreement will be implemented for the stated fiscal period and payroll adjustments will be processed per the approved terms.
Ending: City staff and union representatives will follow the schedule set in the contract and prepare for the next bargaining cycle beginning with statutory notification in February.
