Daniel Harp said the event is intended as a community celebration and marketing effort and encouraged residents to attend.
Council members and the mayor praised the restaurant's longevity and community ties. The mayor also noted the fundraising and community activities connected to other upcoming events, including a corn-hole tournament and community charity activities in honor of a late lieutenant.
The proclamation and the restaurant's announcement were ceremonial but highlighted a long-standing local business and several community events scheduled for August.
