Superintendent highlights kindergarten screening, new principals and summer programs; construction updates reported

Superintendent Dr. Rybarczyk opened the district report with a summary of summer programming, student supports and construction updates across Coatesville Area School District.

Programs and staffing - Kindergarten jump-start: the district ran a two-week program for new kindergarten students; about 85–90 percent of incoming kindergarteners who participated were screened during the program, with the remainder scheduled for screening in the first weeks of school. - New principal: Jarvin Williams has been welcomed as the new principal at North Brandywine Middle School; he previously served as an assistant principal and returns to the district with experience at the middle-school level. - New teacher induction: the district held a three-day orientation for new teachers that included curriculum and policy information and a bus tour of district schools. - Transportation: Charlotte Chapman, director of transportation, was noted as having led the return of bus drivers and efforts to improve run efficiency; the superintendent said transportation had "some minor hiccups" but was functioning and staff were working to improve timeliness.
